In what was one of the larger fields in recent seasons, 18 bowlers stepped up last Sunday to vie for the Club's Junior Singles title. In a revised format, Qualifying was played across 4 games of 12 ends to find top four players to play in finals later in the day to provide a full and exciting day for all concerned.
Two players Odie Walter and Artem Chesnokov made their qualification secure with 4 wins, while third qualifier Mark Waugh was also unbeaten with 3 wins and a draw. The Final qualifying place went to Chris Watkins with 3 Wins and 1 more end than another 3 winner Tim Johnston.

The random draw saw Odie play Artem and Mark play Chris in the semifinals. The first semi was a tight low scoring match through to the ninth end with the match locked up at 7 all. From here Odie controlled the mat scoring on four consecutive ends to run out the winner 12-7.

The other semi-final was a high scoring affair with each player scoring 3 and 4's almost at will In the end Chris prevailed 17 -12 to take his spot in the final.

The final was played in front a supportive crowd who saw a tight and absorbing final through eight ends when Chris made a decisive break in the ninth end with scoring 4. And while each player traded 2's across the next two ends, the concession came after 11 ends with Chris leading 13-8.

Congratulations to Chris Watkins, one of the Wednesday "crew" and a first year bowler on securing his first Club Championship after being runner up in two other events this season.
