After meritorious efforts by all players, Balmoral saw Odie and Paul Griffiths and Chelsea progress through to post section on Sunday at Mangere B.C. with a couple of others narrowly missing out on count back. In the 1st round of Past Section Paul Griffiths went down to Jeremy Brosnan (Glen Eden) 21-5.
Odie continued deeper into the draw with a battling win over Mike Smith (Avondale), nabbing the win in the 20th end with a 3, winning 21-16.
Chelsea caught the eye in the first Post section round to progress into the semifinal . From Auckland Bowls website.
"An excellent game of bowls was played between very new-comer Chelsea Farley (Balmoral Womens) and Paris Baker (Te Atatau Peninsula). Farley took the lead in the 9th end and held onto it to finish the game winning 21-18."Chelsea then played Sheila Putu (Mt Wellington) in the first women's semi final and what a great game!
Putu a second year bowler was 10-20 down in the 18th end with Farley, a first year bowler having charged into the lead. Putu was determined to not let Farley take the final end and played some stunning bowls to win the last 7 ends and came back to win the game in the 25th end with a 3 - the final score being 21-20.
Odie again had another end for end, tense and tight game to make the men's semi finals beating Gary Cotter (Pt Chevalier) , taking the final end to win 21-20.
